I think mine took nearly 30-40min. Make sure they give you lot ear plugs. It makes a very loud knocking sound and some other strange noises at dissimilar times. It is a very tight surface area only in that location was plenty of air circulation then I did fine. They do slide your whole body in in that location. They will virtually likely talk to you at diverse times to make certain you lot're doing okay. It was a much easier test for me than I thought it would exist. Adept Luck!

my feel

I had 1 for my lumbar as well every bit thoracic spine. They slid me in college for the lumbar area but I was able to peek out the top of the machine so I was able to keep my sophistication. It'south closed but it's an open tube with an open top and lesser. My head was all the mode up for lumbar but it was better since I was closer to the top. I couldn't take meds since I was nursing but made it through fine. Good luck.

The bodily process itself takes about 25 minutes. It was weird going into it, just they'll requite you headphones to listen to the radio. A few "knocking" noises and that'southward about it. The worst part of doing information technology with a lower lumbar is that y'all'll be on your back for that entire time. I was glad it was over, but, there isn't any pain with the auto itself. The rest of the time is spent filling out paperwork, asking questions, etc.
How'd yous get your injury and how are you feeling?

well, I picked up the front of my riding lawn mower . I used my back and i felt like a feeling of twinge. then i was on the ground in spasm's couldnt walk for a couple days then straightning up ,sitting , walking were almost impossible. Doc x ray'd it (bone x ray.) and said my spine looks good, but he thinks I have a sprain. then pt..well its been 8 weeks and information technology still hurts right in the middle of my dorsum in a higher place the tail os, however Im mobile. and so i wanted a mri to run into what i did and whats going on. im worried.

Btw

Ask them for a wedge to put under your knees. It makes it a lot easier to prevarication there on your back the whole time. Mine took over 50 minutes but I had ii areas done. GL!

Re: how long does a mri have?

I had iii lumbar MRI's w/in final 12 mos.
I remember the first one was the easiest becasue I was in their newest MRI machine, which had great headphones with music (of my choice). The 2nd and third fourth dimension I was placed into their older automobile that has no headphones, just earplugs. I also asked for a washcloth to cover my eyes just in case I would open up them. I did not similar the sight of the roof of the auto beingness so close to my face.

The 3rd fourth dimension in, I had to take an anti-anxiety med (prescribed from my family physician), I was so nervous. The more MRI'due south I have washed, the more scared I am becoming unfortunately.

My lumbar MRI's lasted about 25 mins each time.

No they tin can't. I just kept my optics airtight and took a nap. It wasn't bad at all.

Re: how long does a mri take?

I've had 3 or 4 MRI's, they take about 40 or so minutes. Your caput goes in first and the top of the tube is most 2 inches from your face. If yous are claustrophobic I would suggest that you lot keep your optics closed and merely mind to the radio on the headset. Don't panic! They also commonly give you a cablegram to clasp if you need to talk or anything. Good Luck.
